Style Guide
Worried about what to wear to your session?
I have prepared a style guide just for you!
As you have seen in most of my photos we want natural, beautiful portraits!
But, if you're not wearing the right outfits, it will not come out natural or beautiful. I'm here to help!
THE LOCATION
Keep your location in mind! This can affect your choice of wardrobe.
If we are shooting at a park or in a field, wear something more on the casual side. Flowy dresses and sandals. If you're a guy wear comfy nice shoes with pants or just go for some shorts!
THE COMFORT
Make sure when buying new clothes to sit and lift your arms while trying the item on to make sure every part is comfortable.
Flowy dresses or skirts are always gorgeous in pictures because of the movement they create.
THE COLORS
This is a big one. The colors you choose to wear for your session can honestly make or break the final result.
I always tell my clients to stick to muted, neutral, or earthy tones. Like white, beige, black, dark green, navy blue, or pastel colors. Bright and neon colors tend to reflect on your skin in photos.
Another tip is to stick to versions of colors. For example, instead of blue, look for navy blue or instead of yellow, try mustard.
If you are doing a couple or family session, coordinate. Matching is a thing of the past. Stick to three main colors and coordinate outfits based off those colors.
THE PATTERNS
I typically tell you to try and stick to solids, sometimes patterns can be a bit distracting.
But, if you want to add in some patterns, make sure only one person is wearing them. That way you aren't clashing with the other person.
Another tip is to avoid smaller patterns and thin lines. These can sometimes distort in photos.
Rain Policy
LEADING UP TO YOUR SESSION I WILL KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEATHER. IF IT SHOWS A CHANCE OF RAIN THE DAY BEFORE YOUR SESSION I WILL REACH OUT TO YOU, SO THAT WE CAN TOUCH BASE. TYPICALLY WE WILL WAIT UNTIL THE DAY OF THE SESSION TO MAKE A CALL. TOGETHER WE CAN CHOOSE A TIME TO DO THIS BY.
IF THE CHANCE OF RAIN IS 50% OR LESS I LEAVE IT UP TO MY CLIENTS TO MAKE THE CALL ON WHETHER OR NOT WE SHOULD RESCHEDULE.
IF THE CHANCE OF RAIN IS 60% OR MORE I WILL MAKE THE CALL TO RESCHEDULE YOUR SESSION. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT I CAN'T HAVE MY EQUIPMENT OUT IN THE RAIN.
